Tewana's Market SquareTewana Croy tells of humble beginnings with her rearing as a child in Glencoe, Alabama in meager surroundings. There was nothing grand or extravagant to inspire her to dream the tableau she has planned for Glencoe but simply inspired by its history and her love for her hometown and the hometown folks who abide there. Fourteen days after graduation from Glencoe High School, Tewana married her high school sweetheart David Croy. The two celebrate over 20 years together raising their daughter Victoria and son Joshua Croy in the Glencoe community.When ask why Tewana brought her business back to her hometown to reside permanently, she states simply and yet emotionally “this is my home and I love serving the people who support me and I feel like I can give something back to my community just as they give their business to us”. Many locals support Tewana and serve their families the delicious meals available at Tewana’s at Market Square. Moreover, they say it is an unusual yet delicious and healthier alternative to the typical fast food meals. Tewana plans to take areas of downtown Glencoe and place what those that know her well call “the Tewana touch”. Tewana serves on the beautification board for the city of Glencoe and is very excited about giving Glencoe a nice “face lift”. Traveling through the Glencoe area across highway 231 from Glencoe Elementary School beside the First Baptist Church on Main Street the renovation is already sparking positive commentary. A history of over 14 years has brought Tewana and her husband David Croy back to their first beginning in the restaurant industry at their original location of The Railroad Station Restaurant beside Glencoe First Baptist Church. Tewana and her spouse have purchased the old Railroad Station Restaurant building renovating it to serve as a bakery manufacturing plant. This is a mandatory move for her business to meet the demand and supply needs for just the local area. Tewana sees this as a huge opportunity to bring in tax revenue on county, city and state levels. She has noticed the positive growth in the surrounding cities and feels it is her hometown of Glencoe’s turn for some growth and restoration. Tewana gets teary eyed mentioning the deterioration of downtown Glencoe and describes a certain nostalgia that is drawing her to bring life back to this area. Tewana’s active business currently resides downtown just behind the First Baptist Church where regular customers frequent her for take home freshly prepared frozen entrees, lunch and dinner. Already renovated by the Croy’s, Tewana’s at Market Square draws attention as it bestows to the small town of Glencoe a welcoming presence. Adorned with character, Tewana’s restaurant will give you a small taste of what’s to come for the downtown Glencoe area. Tewana says she loves creating memories and great tasting recipes from scratch and her own personal ideas. She states her vision for downtown Glencoe is for it to be a place you will want to visit. Tewana associates this with the fond memories she has of visiting her grandmother Garrett’s as she would cook and prepare meals for her family. Her goal is for Tewana’s at Market Square to be a place of pleasurable experiences and that it will welcome visitors back to Glencoe. She hopes to bring back to her hometown a sense of a welcoming spirit through nostalgic beauty. Tewana states that in this day what people miss most is a sense of belonging. If you feel you belong to something, it becomes very important to you. “I belong to this community and it is very important to me and my family” states Tewana through trembling lips. And, last but certainly not least will be the sense of taste which will be completely satisfied with the wonderful delights that will await you in every area of the little town of Glencoe when you visit Tewana’s at Market Square.
